Phosphorus defciency symptoms are immediately seen on fast growing stem plants. It's common to see poor growth and shrinking shoot tips. It's possible that some aquatic plants will darken. A phosphate deficit can frequently result in an increase in spot algae.
Phosphate concentrations of 0.5 to 2.5 ppm of PO4 are recommended in a planted aquarium.
