Some people believe they can forgo fertilizer dosing temporarily since their rich aqua soil tank will initially drain off nutrients from the fresh soil. Many aquasoils are enriched with ammonia, which acts as a long-term source of nitrogen for rooted plants. But most aquasoils don't drain all the nutrients needed quickly enough. Ammonia and nitrates may be leached from many aquasoils, however there may not be enough potassium or magnesium. If you don't dose right away, you are gambling that the nutrients in your tap water aren't there in sufficient amounts for the recently planted tanks to survive the adaption phase. For optimum growth, plants need all of the minerals. An excess of nitrogen from soil ammonia combined with a deficiency in potassium or magnesium is not beneficial.
Young plants lack a well-established root system which limits nutrient absorption from the soil. But since aquatic plants can also absorb nutrients through their leaves, having nutrients in the water column allows them to have easy access to nutrients even before their root zone forms. It's crucial to reduce transition stress when plants adjust to a new environment. A crucial first step in stopping melting and hastening their adaption to the new environment is to provide them with sufficient of CO2 and enough nutrients.
